What in the world??? I know, I thought the same thing the first time I saw them. Those funny looking black squares you are seeing at our houses and in our ads are called QR codes. A QR code (short for quick response) is a 2 dimensional code that is similar to a barcode but contains much more information. It allows those with smart phones such as Blackberry’s, iPhones, Androids, etc to scan the code and retrieve the information.
All you need to do is download an application from your phone for a qr code scanner (most are free). Once you open the app, point your phone camera towards the QR code block and your phone will read the code for you. The code may include text, contact information or direct you to a website.
